American Idol 2012 results March 8: Jeremy Rosado kicked off American Idol; Lauren Alaina sings

Jeremy Rosado, who entered the top 13 as a "wild card" pick, was eliminated from "American Idol" Thursday night.

The odds seemed stacked against the 19-year-old singer. Early in the show, industry mentor Jimmy Iovine predicted Jeremy would go home. Later, judge Steven Tyler echoed the same sentiment.

Jeremy was a nice enough guy, but he failed to showcase enough vocal uniqueness and/or personality to establish a fan base. Plus, his Wednesday performance of Stevie Wonder's "Ribbon in the Sky" was average at best.

This week, "Idol" deviated from the traditional elimination system.

Host Ryan Seacrest revealed the man and woman who received the fewest votes: Jeremy Rosado and Elise Testone. From those two singers, the judges decided which contestant to send home.

In addition to Jeremy and Elise, these singers were in the bottom three for their gender: Erika Van Pelt, Shannon Magrane, Joshua Ledet and Jermaine Jones.

Thursday's results show featured performances by Lauren Alaina and Mary J. Blige. The top 13 singers performed Stevie Wonder's hit, "As."

Twelve singers remain in the competition: Erika Van Pelt, Shannon Magrane, Elise Testone, Joshua Ledet, Jermaine Jones, Colton Dixon, Phillip Phillips, Hollie Cavanagh, Heejun Han, Deandre Brackensick, Skylar Laine and Jessica Sanchez.
