Five Muscogee County School District schools are on a list of Georgia's lowest performing public schools released by the Georgia Department of Education. They are listed as "priority" schools.
There are three high schools Spencer, Kendrick and Jordan. There are elementary schools Fox and Cusseta Road.
Valerie Fuller, director of communications for the school district, said the rankings are based on 2011 spring test scores.
The three high schools are all being served with federal School Improvement Grants and students stay longer than at other schools. Fuller said all SIG schools are on the list.
Fox and Cusseta Road are also operating under school improvement plans.
Fuller said the State Department is working on an exit plan and it is anticipated that some schools will come off the list when that happens. For example, Spencer High made Adequate Yearly Progress.
