Callaway Gardens' attractions

Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Ga., opened 60 years ago on May 21, 1952, and has grown steadily through the years. The attraction includes a 175-acre lake with a beach, said to be the largest man-made lake in the world. Here are some of the key attractions and events held each year, and the dates they made their debut:

• Robin Lake Beach -- Opened in 1953

• Overlook Azalea Garden -- Opened in 1953

• Masters Waterski Tournament -- First held in 1959

• John A. Sibley Horticultural Center -- Opened in 1984 and renovated in 2003

• The Steeplechase at Callaway Gardens -- First held in 1985

• Cecil B. Day Butterfly Center -- Opened in 1988

• Fantasy in Lights -- Opened in 1992

• Callaway Brothers Azalea Bowl -- Opened in 1999

• Sky High Hot Air Balloon Festival -- First held in 1999

• Virginia Hand Callaway Discovery Center -- Opened in 2000

• Treetop Adventure zip-line -- Opened in 2011

• Other attractions include -- Ida Cason Callaway Memorial Chapel, Mr. Cason's Vegetable Garden, Lake View Golf Course and Mountain View Golf Course
