Bama, UGA, Auburn represented on All-SEC teams

Alabama center fielder Taylor Dugas was named to the All-SEC first team and the All-SEC defensive team by the league's coaches Tuesday to cap off the career of one of the Crimson Tide's best players.

Dugas, a senior who holds Alabama records for career hits, doubles and triples, batted .343 with 12 doubles, seven triples, 41 runs scored and 71 hits. He also started all 55 games in center field and made just one error.

Georgia ace Alex Wood earned second-team All-SEC honors after finishing the season 7-3 with 100 strikeouts in 102 1-3 innings and a 2.73 ERA. Bulldogs third baseman Curt Powell also joined Wood on the second team after hitting .355 with 11 doubles and 12 stolen bases.

Auburn landed one representative on the coaches' All-SEC teams. Center fielder Ryan Tella was named to the second team after hitting .360 with a .448 on-base percentage and 17 stolen bases.

Georgia outfielder Hunter Cole and Alabama catcher/outfielder Ben Moore were each named to the All-SEC Freshman Team. Cole hit .276 with seven homers and 23 RBI, and Moore finished the season with a .342 average, 10 doubles and 31 RBI.

LSU outfielder Raph Rhymes was named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Year, while Mississippi State's Chris Stratton was selected as the pitcher of the year and Kentucky's Gary Henderson was named coach of the year.

Wildcats outfielder Austin Cousino is the top freshman, and South Carolina's Michael Roth is scholar-athlete of the year for baseball.
