Maj. Gen. Robert Brown serving last day as Fort Benning commander today

Columbus Ledger-EnquirerJune 12, 2012

Maj. Gen. Robert Brown, commander of the Maneuver Center of Excellence at Fort Benning since November 2010, is one day away from giving up his duties to Brig. Gen. H.R. McMaster.

McMaster will be promoted to major general and assume duties during an 8 a.m. Wednesday ceremony on Soldier Field at the National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center.

Brown also has been selected for his third star and promotion to lieutenant general. He will move to Washington where he will command I Corps and Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

The outgoing commander hasn’t looked forward to leaving the Columbus and Phenix City area.

“I’m very humble,” Brown said during a recent  re-enlistment ceremony. “If nominations are approved and everything, I will do the best that I can. I’m going to leave here and they are going to have to throw me off post. I don’t want to leave.”
