Nightlife picks: Bar crawl, glow party, tattoo party and more

The potential for fireworks on the nightlife scene is hardly over.

Sure, maybe you reached the height of grilling perfection Wednesday night. But local bars are more than happy to bring you out of the house party realm.

Looking for a party? Try these suggestions.

Friday bar crawl downtown

It's that time again. One $10 cover gets you into many downtown Columbus hot spots on Friday night. If you've been MIA on the party scene lately, this is a good chance to make your grand nightlife reentry on Broadway.

Glow party at Mix

It's not fireworks, but it's kind of close. Maybe even better. Mix Ultra Lounge, 1107 Broadway, hosts a glow party Friday night. Expect free party favors for the first 100 people in the door. DJ Roonie G will entertain.

Doors open 9 p.m. Cover is $5 for women, $10 for men. This event is not included in Friday's bar crawl. Call 706-221-2112.

Anniversaries at Illusions, The Vault

Downtown hot spot the Uptown Vault (1026 Broadway) on Saturday celebrates its two-year anniversary with door prizes and drink specials. Cover is $5 and doors open at 8 p.m.

Illusions, 6499 Veterans Parkway, marks its one-year anniversary with a chain of parties. Tonight, the hot spot hosts its first-ever tattoo party.

Tattoo artists will be displaying their artwork and giving away tattoos. You have a chance to win a $200 tattoo. Guests can also expect a lingerie and pole dancing contest with prizes. A special guest artist and a DJ will appear. Cover is $10 and doors open at 9 p.m.

Other highlights at Illusions this weekend include women's boxing Friday night and a black and white night Saturday, when anyone in all-black or all-white gets in free. Also on Saturday, anyone in before midnight gets a free VIP upgrade.

Comedy night at Spicoli's

Columbus hot spot Spicoli's will kick off a weekly comedy night next Wednesday (July 11). Expect performances by traveling stand-up comics Myke Herlihy, David Allan and Duncan Jay. Traveling comics are expected to perform every other week.

In the weeks between their performances, Spicoli's hopes to host performances by local people who will compete to open for the professionals.

The Wednesday comedy night starts at 10 p.m. and cover is $5. Spicoli's is at 5762 Milgen Road in Columbus. Call 706-221-5252.
