Published: August 14, 2012

A true story about members of the 517th Parachute Regimental Combat Team and their efforts to free resisters in France during World War II will be screened Wednesday at IMAX Theatre at the National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center.

The free screening of "Saints and Soldiers: Airborne Creed," is at 7 p.m. on the 68th anniversary of the regiment jumping over southern France.

The soldiers were there to support Allied troops and their march to Berlin but were under immediate attack. While trying to reach their unit, three paratroopers ran into some French resisters who needed help to free some captives. Soldiers risked their lives to liberate some captives to live the Airborne Creed.

Ryan Little, writer and director, and retired  Lt. Col. Hal Beddow, will be introduced before the screening. On Friday, the film opens across the country.
