With the presidential election on everyones minds, we thought itd be interesting to examine the economic effects of each partys national convention. Naturally, were thinking about strip clubs.
Plenty of reporters have written about the strip club/political party connection. Check out this story, which shows a certain yin-yang when it comes to sex and politics.
Party officials dont want bad press, and are advising their members to eschew these joints. Conversely, strip clubs are ramping up their operations and even advertising toward the hordes of politicos who will descend on Tampa, Fla. and Charlotte, N.C., respectively.
Take a look at this quote from the above-linked story:
One club, Skin Tampa, is advertising its proximity to the Tampa Bay Times Forum, where the convention will be held. Closest club to the R.N.C.! exclaims a banner on the clubs Web site, which also promises Free transportation and complimentary V.I.P. for R.N.C. Attendees and Press.
OMG, did you just say you would take reporters to your facility for free and give them complimentary VIP status? There are no editors in the champagne room.
However, as the linked story points out, all it takes is one little picture to potentially destroy someone. This was probably a lot more fun a few decades ago, when cell phone cameras didnt exist. Now anyone can snap a quick pic and have it tweeted to thousands of people within moments.
Maybe thats the real reason theres a prohibition on cameras inside strip clubs. Or, at least, so weve been told.
