Russell County High's Will Ziebol has been selected to be part of the Mid-Atlantic team this week at USA Baseball in Cary, N.C.

The USA Baseball National Team Identification Series staff held tryouts in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Mississippi before forming the 16-and-under and 17-and-under rosters.

Teams in both age groups will play in three nine-inning games starting Thursday and continuing through Sunday.

USA Baseball will choose a minimum of eight players for its 2013 18-and-under national team trials and another eight to the 2013 17-and-under national team development program.

"We are very excited about the teams at each group," Mid-Atlantic NTIS regional director Jeff Schaefer said. "After evaluating over 300 players in our region, we believe we have found the cream of the crop and are looking forward to showing everyone what baseball in our region is all about."
