Six key Auburn players

PROVEN PLAYERS

PROVEN PLAYERS

Emory Blake

Position: WR

Ht./Wt.: 6-2, 197

Class: Sr.

2011: 36 catches, 613 yards, 5 TDs

Outlook: Blake could be one of the SEC's best receivers, provided he stays healthy after a high ankle sprain marred 2011. A precise route-runner with plenty of speed, Blake has been a key target in Auburn's passing game for two straight years, and he's the Tigers' only proven pass-catcher.

Philip Lutzenkirchen

Position: TE

Ht./Wt.: 6-5/256

Class: Sr.

2011: 24 catches, 238 yards, 7 TDs

Outlook: Lutzenkirchen has 14 touchdown catches in 44 receptions at Auburn, but he's never had an opportunity to be a primary target. Always used as a lead blocker, Lutzenkirchen has been freed by the addition of fullback Jay Prosch, and offensive coordinator Scot Loeffler has promised to give the tight end a featured role.

Corey Lemonier

Position: DE

Ht./Wt.: 6-4, 240

Class: Jr.

2011: 47 tackles, 9.5 sacks, 13.5 tackles-for-loss

Outlook: Lemonier blossomed into a major pass-rushing threat as a sophomore. Playing on a defensive line that failed to post more than one sack from any other Tiger, Lemonier was a consistent threat. If he can take his game to the next level, Lemonier could be an All-American.

BREAKOUT STARS

Kiehl Frazier

QB, 6-2, 228, So.

2011: 327 rushing yards, 3 TDs, 5-for-12 passing, 34 yards, 2 INT's

Outlook: Frazier is expected by most to assume the mantle of Auburn's starting quarterback, and the weight of a fan base's expectations will land squarely on his shoulders. Frazier's teammates have been excited about his development over the summer; it remains to be seen if he can live to his former five-star hype.

Greg Robinson

LT, 6-5, 309, R-Fr.

2011: Redshirted

Outlook: Robinson struggled to make the transition to college life as a freshman, but by the time bowl practices rolled around, Auburn's seniors were giving Robinson rave reviews for his athleticism. Supremely gifted, Robinson is supposed to remind Auburn fans of former left tackle Marcus McNeill.

Chris Davis

CB, 5-11, 196, Jr.

2011: 60 tackles, 4 pass breakups, 1 forced fumble

Outlook: Injured against Clemson, Davis struggled to regain his form for most of the regular season, although he started in all 11 games he played. Davis broke out in the Chick-fil-A Bowl with eight tackles, a pass breakup, a fumble forced and Chick-fil-A Bowl MVP honors.
