BREAKING DOWN THE CHEROKEES
The Good: The team will be experienced in 2012. Kendrick will feature four seniors and five juniors on offense. On defense, it will be five seniors and four juniors. The offense will be led by senior running back Jamar Comar, who could be a force in the running game. He is being looked at Shorter and Jacksonville State. Junior John Hines will be the quarterback.
The Bad: The two wins from last season came against Jordan and Spencer, which combined to win just two games last season. Coach Jerry Dukes is still trying to work to change the culture of losing. The Cherokees have not had a winning season since 1995.
Our take: The schedule is loaded with road games in the first half of the season, where the experience of the team could certainly play a factor. Kendrick needs to steal a couple of those games on the road and put itself in good position for a winning record with four games in Columbus to close the season. The Cherokees should be able to improve upon its two-win season from a year ago.
