Glenwood 52, Evangel 8: Gators 32-point first quarter overwhelms Evangel Christian in win

Montgomery, Ala. -- Glenwood scored 32 points in the first quarter as the streaking Gators scored their second straight road win and went on to defeat the Evangel Christian Lions 52-8 in a non-region contest Friday night.

Glenwood struck for four touchdowns in five minutes during that eventful first period as five different players scored touchdowns, including one by defensive linebacker Alryck Perry on a one-yard fumble recovery to make the score, 26-0.

Dylan Denney started the onslaught with an 18-yard run to stake the Gators to a 6-0 lead.

Two minutes later, quarterback Brandon Daley found tight end Zach Kelly for a 34-yard TD pass. Luke Dougherty kept the onslaught going with a four-yard TD blast and that was followed by Perry's fumble recovery.

The final touchdown of the first quarter was scored by Isaiah Bettis with 24 seconds left in the quarter and the rout was on.

Glenwood then scored single touchdowns in the second, third and fourth quarter and again three different players got touchdowns as the lead grew to 52-0 in the second half.

Daley got a running touchdown of 14 yards in the second period before going to the sidelines, freshman Undreil Copeland scored on a two-yard run in the third and Will Zeigler scored on a 9-yard run in the fourth.

Copeland finished the night as the leading rusher in the game with 83 yards.
