Mike Haskey mhaskey@ledger-enquirer.com Demonstrators traveling with the Mexico Caravan for Peace and Justice with Dignity demonstrated in front of the Fort Benning Road entrance sign to Fort Benning Friday. Between 100 to 150 activists are traveling across the United States to raise awareness to the number of lives lost in the "War on Drugs." The caravan started in Mexico on Aug. 12 and ends Sept. 10-12 in Wishington, D.C. Among the stops on the trip are Los Angeles, Santa Fe, Houston, El Paso, New Orleans and New York. Several officers with the Columbus Police Department were on hand to keep the road leading into and out of Fort Benning clear. The activists were at the gate for a little more than one hour. The caravan is being led by Mexican poet Javier Sicillia, whose son was killed by the violence. 08/31/12
