Postwide Yard Sale set for Saturday at Fort Benning

A few dollars in your pocket could go a long way at Fort Benning’s Postwide Yard Sale on Saturday.

The 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. event will cover all of the post’s housing areas, including Main Post, Custer Terrace, Bouton Heights, Davis Hill, Lavoie Manor, Patton Village and Upatoi Terrace.

There will be deals on furniture and other household items. Bargain hunters are encouraged to park in a high-sale area and walk a short distance to other nearby homes. In the housing areas, motorists should observe the lower speed limits of 15 to 25 mph.

The sale is held twice a year. Selling is only open to post residents, but buying is open to the public.

While the yard sale is under way, a flea market will be held on the Main Post’s York Field in front of McGinnis-Wickam Hall. The flea market is open to buyers and sellers from Fort Benning and off post. You must be preregistered and have space rented from the Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation.

For information on the yard sale or the flea market, call 706-545-7978.

To enter the post, buyers won’t need a vehicle access pass. The driver and occupants over age 17 in the vehicle may be asked to show identification at the gate.

The last yard sale and flea market were held in May.
