The Columbus Water Works will officially open a new Fort Benning Water Treatment Plant during a Sept. 19 ceremony at 6709 Cole Drive.
At a cost of $30 million, the new facility will benefit thousands of soldiers and families on the post.
The Water Works, operator of the system at Fort Benning, demolished the old facility and replaced it with a state of the art facility that uses the latest technology to deliver clean water to the post until 2030 and beyond.
A ribbon cutting is set for 10:30 a.m.
