Northwestern suspends Cobb for season

Published: September 21, 2012

Northwestern junior guard JerShon Cobb has been suspended for the entire 2012-13 season for violating team policy.

"There are standards that each student-athlete is expected to uphold," Northwestern head men's basketball coach Bill Carmody said in a statement on Friday. "JerShon has our complete support as he works to fulfill those expectations and we look forward to having him rejoin the program in a full capacity in the future."

Cobb averaged 7.1 points and 1.8 rebounds in 21 games last season.

The school said Cobb remains enrolled at the university and is still a part of the program. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
