Norcross, Ga. -- Wesleyan's Rhett Delk kicked a 49-yard field goal Friday as time expired to beat Brookstone 17-14.
Wesleyan took a 14-0 lead late into the fourth quarter before Brookstone rallied furiously with two touchdowns in the final four minutes to tie the game.
On both Brookstone touchdowns, Cougars quarterback Duncan Fletcher passed to Drew Lingo (14 and 10 yards).
After tying the game with 1:17 remaining, Wesleyan returned the ensuing kickoff to its 44, setting up the dramatic winning kick a few plays later.
"I couldn't be more proud of our kids," said Brookstone coach Brad Dehem. "We never gave up. But we made mistakes and got down early."
The mistakes included Brookstone being penalized 12 times for 109 yards.
Brookstone had 223 offensive yards. Fletcher was 24 of 35 in the air for 217 yards and two touchdowns. Lingo caught four passes for 29 yards. Madison McCluskey had 8 receptions for 62 yards. Tim Kennedy had 5 catches for 62 yards.
