Tuskegee-Morehouse Classic is more than a football game

This year marks the 77th meeting between the Golden Tigers of Tuskegee and the Maroon Tigers of Morehouse College. You don't have to be football fan to enjoy the festivities, though. Here are some other activities.

Golf

On Friday, the 13th Annual Golf Classic takes place at Bull Creek Golf Course, 7333 Lynch Road. Lunch is at 11 a.m. and tee time is at 12:30 p.m. Registration is $85. For more information, call Franklin Douglas at 706-575-2115.

Bands

Battle of the Bands & DJ's is at Columbus Civic Center Friday. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. Advance tickets cost $10, tickets the day of the show cost $12.50. Find a list of ticket vendors at tuskegee-morehouse.com

Parade

The parade starts at 9 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Broad St. and Dillingham St. The route will begin on Broad St. in Phenix City and continue to 1st Ave in Columbus. For those in the parade, line up begins at 8 a.m.

Tailgating

Tailgaters must in their assigned spots by 9 a.m. Saturday. Tailgating starts Friday morning and ends at the conclusion of the game Saturday. Lot must be cleared by 7 p.m. Call Carl Hamilton at 706-577-0210, for details.

The game

The Golden Tigers and the Maroon Tigers meet on the field at 2 p.m. Saturday at A.J. McClung Memorial Stadium. Advanced tickets cost $20. Day-of tickets cost $25.
