Bartender arrested on series of gambling, drug charges

A man wanted on a series of gambling charges was arrested by the Special Operations Unit Wednesday at the Pop-A-Top Lounge in Columbus, police said.

Keith Nickey Pate, 48, faces two counts each of keeping a gambling place and commercial gambling along with possession of meth amphetamine, drug related objects and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Pate of Phenix city faces a 2 p.m. Friday hearing in Recorder’s Court.

Agents with the Special Operations Unit arrested Pate about 4 p.m. at the 210 32nd St. bar where he is employed as a bartender. Police said Pate had about a haf-gram of meth a .25-caliber pistol was located under the counter.
