A 23-year-old Columbus woman was in critical condition today  after she was struck by a car on Manchester Expressway, police said.

Amber Salter was treated in the intensive care unit at The Medical Center after the accident, officials said.

The woman was walking north across Manchester Expressway near Rosemont Drive when she was struck by an eastbound Dodge Challenger about 8 a.m., said Police Lt., Tony Danford. The impact left the woman's shoes and hat scattered in the street.

Morning traffic was slowed to one lane on the three-lane street while patrol officers investigated the accident.

The Challenger was driven by Sonya Liebendorfer, 47,  of Columbus. No charges have been filed in connection with the accident. Police seized the Challenger, which had damaged to its right front side.
