No garbage pickup today in Columbus, Phenix City; some schools in session

ariquelmy@ledger-enquirer.comOctober 8, 2012

There is no garbage pickup today in Columbus and Phenix City, due to the Columbus Day holiday.

Schools in Muscogee and Russell counties, however, are open for business.

Several local government offices are closed today on both sides of the Chattahoochee River. Most people must wait until Tuesday to visit government offices.

A few cities and counties, however, are open for business today, including Auburn and Opelika in Alabama and Harris County in Georgia.

Schools are a different matter. Muscogee and Russell counties are in session today. Most other area schools are closed, including Chattahoochee and Harris counties as well as Fort Benning. Lee County schools in Alabama are closed as well.
