A suspect tried to grab an officer’s gun as police tried to arrest him Wednesday.

Joshua Thomas Emplit, 22, is charged with obstruction of an officer and attempting to remove a weapon from a police officer, reports state.

According to police, an officer had responded to the 3800 block of Miller Road about 11:50 p.m. Wednesday and encountered Emplit, who refused to give him name. Emplit then ran from the officer, who caught up and tried to arrest him.

That’s when Emplit grabbed the officer’s gun and tried to take it from the officer’s holster, reports state. Emplit was then arrested.
