Oct. 19-20: The Landings shopping center hosts Hoppy Halloween and scarecrow contest

Frank N Gator is the scarecrow/alligator/mascot for Harvest in the Meadows, a fall festival set for Saturday, Nov. 3.

The Landings Shopping Center hosts its Hoppy Halloween Festival 6-10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19 and a scarecrow contest and pumpkin drop 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Sat. Oct. 20.

On Friday, a free screening of "Monsters, Inc." is set for 9 p.m. in the parking lot. Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy food specials, Monkey Joe's inflatables and photo opportunities with the Sweet Frog mascot and Monkey Joe. Costume contests are 7-9 p.m. with prizes awarded to winners in three age levels: 4 and younger, 5-8 year old and 9-12 year olds. On Saturday, vote for your favorite scarecrow from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Sat. Oct. 20 to win the People's Choice Award. Votes cost $1 each, with a $5 minimum, and all proceeds will go to the Children's Miracle Network. The Pumpkin Drop for MS will begin at 10 a.m. Guests will be lifted in a bucket truck and pumpkins are dropped into the parking lot.
