"American Idol" winner Phillip Phillips, who hails from Leesburg, Ga., will release his debut album Nov. 19, according to a recent post on his Twitter page. Its title? "The World from the Side of the Moon."
How do you like that title?
MTV has a humorous piece speculating about its deeper hidden meaning. Among the writer's guesses: "He had just crushed a box of Moon Pies, was at a loss for an album title." Yeah, that's totally it.
I assume I'll buy the disc, partially for journalistic research but also because I really like Phillip. I've seen him in person twice: at his hometown concert when he was a top 3 finalist on "Idol," and when the "Idol" concert stopped in Atlanta a few months ago.
He's a genuinely nice guy. Both times I was impressed by his magnetic quality on stage. He really thrives in a live entertainment environment, and I'm curious to see if that appeal translates into a full album.
Will you buy Phillip's debut album?
While you're pondering that question, check out some clips from my archive of Phillip Phillips videos. Here's one I filmed in Leesburg.
And here's an interview I filmed in Atlanta, when Phillip was traveling with the "Idol" tour.
