America's Next Top Model: Deciphering the allure of male models

Published: October 18, 2012

The next installment of "America's Next Top Model" will include male models. Creative idea or desperate plea for ratings? I'm not sure. Here's a better question: Ladies, would you date a male model?

The male model is a unique specimen. While female models come with certain stereotypes -- vain, weight-obsessed, high-maintenance -- male models are a little more difficult to decipher.

While I'm sure some of the stereotypes cross genders, I wonder if there's less stigma attached to dating a male model as opposed to a female model.

Of course, outsiders' perceptions certainly vary based on what you're modeling.

But back to my earlier question: By featuring models of both genders, the "Top Model" house is bound to transform into one giant lovefest of beautiful people embracing the temporary thrill of showmances. It's like "Big Brother" with better skin.

Um, I think I'd rather watch "Honey Boo Boo."
