FRANKLIN, Ga. — The Heard County High School football team took a business-like approach to its homecoming affair with Jordan on Friday night at Staples Stadium, doing what it needed to in the opening half and resting the starters down the stretch in the 54-7 victory.
The Braves gobbled up 417 yards of total offense overall for the night, while yielding just 24 yards defensively to the Red Jackets with the starters — who only played the first half en route to a 47-0 halftime score — on the field, which allowed Heard County coach Tim Barron to do some evaluating in the second half.
“It was nice to see the guys come out and execute and do what they’re supposed to do and make it where it’s a fun night for everybody and let all the kids get in the ball game,” Barron said. “We rolled a lot of our guys, a lot of our twos and threes, in the third and fourth period. So that was nice to get a lot of kids in the game and have a chance to watch those kids and evaluate them. That gets those guys better for the future.”
No. 7 Heard County improved to 7-0 overall and 5-0 in region play, while the Red Jackets fall to 0-8 overall and 0-6 in 5-AA.
