Fire officials to hold community forum Thursday

Published: October 23, 2012

The last of four public forums and open houses will be held 6-7 p.m. Thursday at Columbus Fire Station No. 12 at 5225 Cargo Drive, official said.

The event gives residents a chance to ask questions and get answers on a series of questions, said Jeff Meyer, chief of Columbus Fire and Emergency Medical Services.

“Mainly we come in and give people the opportunity to ask questions and it gives us an opportunity to answer questions,” Meyer said. Information from residents may be considered for the department’s strategic plan. During previous forums, Meyer said people have asked about the proposed Fire Station No. 9. No land has been secured for the project, he said.

The Fire Safety House will be available for children and fire prevention information will be available for residents. With the end of the month approaching and time changing, Meyer said people will be reminded about changing batteries in their home smoke detectors.

“It’s just informative,” he said.
