Murder suspect faces six felony counts

A man accused in the March 2011 death of a Pittsview, Ala., pastor, has been charged with six felony counts, Muscogee County Jail officials said today.

Jody Montrell Perry, 23, is charged with armed robbery, kidnapping, possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a crime, three counts of murder and violation of probation in connection with the death of Blanchard Thomas. A Columbus Recorder’s Court hearing hasn’t been set.

Perry is the fifth suspect charged in Thomas’ death under the Oglethorpe Bridge in Columbus. He was arrested about noon Tuesday at the Rodeway Inn and held in the Russell County Jail before he waived extradition to Columbus at 3:30 p.m., jail records show.
