Costume contests, haunted houses, spooky yards and candy give-a-ways are part of Chattahoochee Valley Halloween activities happening now through Halloween night.

Haunted Yard: The Beaver family hosts a Haunted Yard for free now through Halloween night, Oct. 31. Hours are 7-10 p.m. nightly at 4021 Savannah Drive. Donations will be given to the Wounded Warriors Project. New attractions include a maze of illusions, flying ghost, a scene that will remind guests of the movie "Hostel," a toxic zone, zombies, snakes, a life-size Jason, a floating grim reaper, a 16-foot moving spider, hanging cages, fog, a chain saw massacre character and clowns.

Pope's Haunted Farm: Discover four separate attractions -- a haunted barn, a haunted hayride, a haunted forest and a 3D clown maze -- in Salem, Ala. Hours are 7:30-10 p.m. Tuesday-Wednesday, Oct. 30-31. Tickets cost $12 for one attraction, $20 for two, $25 for three and $5 for the 3D haunted house. Get directions at PopesHayride.com. Trick or Treat at the Library: Wear Halloween costumes and visit each department in the Columbus Public Library for a sweet treat 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31. A spooky story time will begin at 4:30 p.m.

'Night of the Living Dead' screening at the Springer: The classic horror film screens at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31 at the Springer Opera House. The Saloon opens for snacking and beverages at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10. An after party will include a costume contest.

Fall Ball at the Mall: 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31. Peachtree Mall. Candy, games, door prizes and costume contests. Bring a trick-or-treat bag. Register for the costume contests and door prizes in the corridor near the Food Court between FYE & Cinnabon. Costume contests are 6-6:30 p.m. for 2 to 4 year olds, 6:30-7 p.m. for 5 year olds through third grade and 7-7:30 p.m. for fourth to sixth grade. Contestants must arrive at least 30 minutes before their event time to register.

Trick or treating: The Columbus Police Department suggests an 8 p.m. cutoff for trick or treating. The Phenix City Police Department recommends trick or treating 5-8 p.m. Fort Benning residents may trick or treat 6-8 p.m.
