Columbus man tells police his stolen pit bulls showed up for sale on Craigslist

Published: October 26, 2012

A 41-year-old Bell Street man told Columbus police two dogs stolen from his home showed up for sale on Craigslist.

Though the theft reportedly happened between 11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, and 9 a.m. the next day, he did not report it until 6 p.m. this past Wednesday, when the man flagged down Officer Josh Brownlee at East Lindsay Drive and Melrose Drive, Brownlee reported.

The man described both dogs as pit bulls, their coats blue and white, one 4 years old and the other a 4-month-old puppy, each valued at $2,000.

Brownlee said the man "stated that he looked and found his dogs posted on Craigslist."
