A woman who was under the influence at the scene of an accident at Veterans Parkway and River Road Monday was charged with possessing dangerous drugs, Columbus police said.

Shannon Findley, 32, was charged with four counts of violating Georgia's controlled substance act, possessing dangerous drugs and two counts of possessing drug related objects.

Officer Adam Moyer said he asked the woman for permission to search her purse when he saw her at the scene about 5 p.m. Inside the purse, the officer found several drugs including oxycodone. The purse also contained two used needles, police said.

She was taken to the Muscogee County Jail but released on bond.
