Manchester 41, Chattahoochee County 7: Dominating Blue Devils' defense stifles Panthers

November 3, 2012

MANCHESTER, Ga. -- Manchester celebrated its Homecoming in style Friday night as the Blue Devils' defense stifled Chattahoochee County to cruise to a 41-7 victory.

Manchester leaped out to a 20-0 lead in the first quarter, sparked by Dejonte Fitzpatrick's 17-yard fumble return. Quin Prather completed 35-yard and 23-yard touchdown passes to Dame Turner and Denzel Clements, respectively, and Darius Alford made both of his attempted kicks of the quarter.

The Blue Devils didn't let up in the second quarter, as Quin Martin broke off on a 19-yard interception return followed by another good Alford kick to retire the half with a 27-point lead.

Two more touchdown runs in the third quarter, by Tavaris Almon (4 yards) and Prather (3 yards), capped by two more successful extra points by Alford, pushed the Blue Devils even further out of Chattahoochee County's reach.

The Panthers went on a 70-yard drive late in the fourth quarter, and Delvante Lawrence was able to make a 3-yard touchdown run to avoid the shutout. Thomas Morgan's kick attempt was successful.

Almon was the leading rusher for Manchester, notching 87 yards on 11 carries.

The Panthers hadn't gained a single yard against Manchester's dominating defense until their final drive of the game.
