Smiths Station was playing for pride as Friday night's game at T. C. Britton field was its finale. Valley is on to the playoffs next week, but Smiths Station defeated the Rams 27-20.
Valley closed the gap to 27-20 with a 10-yard pass from Joshua Meigs to Davion Bailey with 4:04 remaining in the game.
Smiths Station opened the game with a five play 69-yard drive and took a 7-0 lead when Jerrell Gilmore found Johnny Woods across the middle for a 60 yard score.
Smiths Station drove 57-yards in 10 plays. Gilmore and Woods hooked up on a 20-yard pass to put the Panthers up 13-0.
Houston Barnes returned the ensuing kickoff 59-yards. One play later Joshua Meigs connected with Davion Bailey on a scoring pass to pull to within 13-7.
The Panthers drove 68-yards to score on its third straight drive when Preston Reynolds ran in from 3-yards out for a 20-7 lead.
Austin Wood added a 25-yard field goal and a 20-yarder as time expired in the first half to cut the lead to 20-13.
Smiths Station added a third-quarter score to extend the lead to 27-13.
