Saturday's Soldier Marathon and Half Marathon is expected to attract more than 1,000 participants, plus plenty of spectators. The marathon travels 26.2 miles, while the half marathon is 13.1 miles. The course is reasonably flat and goes through Fort Benning as well as Oxbow Meadows and the RiverWalk area. Participants can run in honor of a fallen soldier. Proceeds benefit the National Infantry Museum and the House of Heroes.

Where: National Infantry Museum, 1775 Legacy Way, Columbus

When: Marathon and half marathon start 7 a.m. Saturday. Registration and packet pickup is 11 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Friday, as well as 5:30 a.m.-6:45 a.m. Saturday, at the National Infantry Museum.

Cost: Marathon registration is $80 military, $110 civilian. Half marathon registration is $70 military, $95 civilian. A relay and kids marathon are also offered.
