THOMASVILLE, Ga. -- From 0-4 to Region 1-AAAAA champions.
Harris County shocked No. 4 Thomas County Central 18-12 at the Jackets' Nest on Friday night to win the region title.
With the win, the Tigers (6-4, 5-0) will host the No. 4 seed from Region 4 next Friday in the first round of the state playoffs. Thomas County Central (8-2, 4-1) will host the No. 3 seed.
The Jackets took a 6-0 lead in the first quarter on Shaquille Coleman's touchdown run.
Esaias Chapman answered for the Tigers, and Isaac Grimes' PAT gave Harris County a 7-6 lead with less than a minute to play in the first half.
TCC took the lead into intermission as Gavin Wilson hit a field goal for a 9-6 lead.
Grimes gave the lead back to the Tigers with a third-quarter field goal at 10-9.
Wilson answered with a field goal and the Jackets re-took the lead at 12-10 midway through the fourth quarter.
DiQuan Roberts put the Tigers ahead for good with a touchdown with 3:23 left in the game. The Tigers added a 2-point conversion for a 18-12 lead.
