Greenville, Ga. -- Brookstone won the Region 4-A championship Friday night with a 30-21 victory over Greenville.
Down 21-20 in the fourth quarter, the Cougars scored 10 unanswered points to seal victory and win their first region championship since 2008.
"I'm excited and exhausted. Wow, what a game," said Brookstone coach Brad Dehem. "We had a lot of adversity tonight, especially when we got down 21-20. Our kids stuck together. They had a lot of will."
Brookstone (8-2, 6-1) will host the first round of the single A private school playoffs on the Friday after Thanksgiving.
Two years ago Brookstone was 7-2 and traveled to Greenville needing a win to make the playoffs. The Cougars lost 14-10. Dehem said his seniors talked a lot about that game.
"It was on their minds," said Dehem. "They knew how hard it is to win up here."
Brookstone quarterback Duncan Fletcher accounted for four touchdowns -- two passing and two rushing -- to lead the Cougars. He finished 18 of 28 for 286 yards through the air.
Leading receivers for the Cougars were Drew Lingo (4 catches, 73 yards, one TD) and Tim Kennedy (3 catches, 68 yards, one TD).
