A Fort Benning soldier and his wife were charged Monday with reckless conduct after their 11-month old child was left unattended in a buggy at Toys R Us, Columbus police said.

Jessica Ketchum, 26, and her husband, Jason Ketchum, 32, were charged about 5 p.m. at the 5555 Whittlesey Blvd. toy store. The couple wasn't taken into custody but ordered to appear in Recorder's Court on Dec. 14.

In a report, police said the infant was left alone in the buggy for at least 6.5 minutes before the child was found by an off duty police officer.

The couple live at Fort Benning where Jason Ketchum is assigned.
