A Columbus man accused of threatening his neighbor with a hand ax pleaded not guilty Tuesday during a Recorder’s Court hearing.

Brent M. Watson, 41, was charged with one count each of aggravated assault, first-degree burglary, second-degree criminal damage to property, false imprisonment and disorderly conduct Thursday in the 8 p.m. dispute at 3200 12th Ave. Judge Michael Cielinski set bonds totaling more than $25,000 and bound the charges over to Muscogee Superior Court.

The 23-year-old victim wasn’t injured.

Watson, a neighbor of the victim, is accused of entering the man’s apartment about 8 p.m. and threatening to kill him with a hand ax, police said. Damage to the apartment was estimated at $50.

Watson waived his hearing on the serious charges.
