Nov. 18: March of Dimes Nightwalk at Callaway Gardens

November 15, 2012

The family tradition that is the March of Dimes Nightwalk is Sunday. There are two time slots left to start walking -- 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Last year, more than 6,800 people walked the five-mile route featuring holiday light scenes.

Linda Szabo, executive director of the local chapter of the March of Dimes, says, "I'm ecstatic" when thinking that she started Nightwalk 20 years ago.

Now, more than 100,000 people have walked the five miles, donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to help improve the lives of babies.

Szabo says Nightwalk is a wholesome, family-friendly event that has become an annual outing for people from Alabama, Florida and South Carolina, as well as from all over Georgia.

If you want a 20th anniversary memento, the sweatshirt is $20 for adults and $15 for youths.
