Happy hour is making you fat

Think twice before hitting happy hour tonight. The average drinker gets 16 percent of his or her calories from alcohol, according to study results cited in the New York Daily News.

"The CDC’s survey, released Thursday, also found men, on average, consume 150 calories of alcohol a day, while women down just 53," the article notes.

As a reference point, it adds that a 12-ounce bottle of beer has 150 calories and a 5-ounce glass of wine has 120 calories.

Weigh in: Have calories ever deterred you from drinking alcohol?
