Adrien Broner took the WBC lightweight title away from Antonio DeMarco by scoring an eighth-round technical knockout Saturday night.
Broner (25-0, 21 KOs) used his power punches to bloody the cheeks of DeMarco (28-3-1, 21 KOs) in the fifth round and then sent his opponent to the canvas with a big left hook in the eighth round. DeMarco's corner raised the white towel to signify the end of the fight at the 1:49 mark of the round.
DeMarco, who was making his third title defense, was clearly behind in the bout. Broner landed 241 punches to just 93 for DeMarco.
