Dec. 7: Play in snow, visit Santa at Broadway Holiday Festival

November 20, 2012

Uptown Columbus, Inc., Business Improvement District and Uptown Merchants host the Broadway Holiday Festival 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7 at the 1100 block of Broadway. It's free. uptowncolumbusga.com.

Santa will be escorted by his entourage, including a special guest appearance from the Coca-Cola Polar bear. Guests are invited to sing along to traditional Christmas carols at the lighting of the giant Christmas tree, shop with holiday vendors, enjoy horse and carriage rides and play in the snow. There will be hot chocolate, candy canes and lots of fun for the entire family. Participants are encouraged to wear their favorite holiday attire, and to bring their camera to partake in the many photo opportunities. For those looking for that purr-fect Christmas gift, PAWS will have some of their furry friends for adoption.

To share in the spirit of giving, Uptown Columbus, Inc. Business Improvement District will be kicking off their annual holiday food drive on the night of the Dec. 2. Come share the holiday spirit by leaving a food donation under the tree. Donations go to local shelters and families in need. Otherwise, please drop off you donation at one of participating businesses in the Uptown area by Dec. 10.

Bring a toy or $2 donation and slide on the Santa’s Castle of Fort Benning giant slide. A non-profit organization run solely by volunteers, the Santa’s Castle organization provides toys for children of Fort Benning Soldiers, who because of financial difficulties would otherwise not have toys during the holidays. Santa’s Castle has been serving the Fort Benning and Columbus area since 1986.

Please join us as we come together this holiday season by giving to those less fortunate. For more information, please uptowncolumbusga.com or contact Uptown Columbus, Inc. and BID at (706) 596-0111.
