Phenix City Council goes 'old-school,' approves 'dancing with a jukebox' license

Published: November 21, 2012

It wasn't the biggest headline out of Phenix City Council Tuesday night, but it was interesting.

Council was approving a beer and wine license for a brew pub planning to go into a building on 13th Street.

In addition to the alcohol license, Chattahoochee Brewing Company LLC had to get two other permits. One is for “dancing with a live band,” but it was the other that caught the attention of new Mayor Eddie Lowe. It is a license for “dancing with a juke box.”

“Now, that’s old-school,” said the 52-year-old Lowe.
