Recruiting: Another JUCO prospect commits

Published: November 25, 2012

ATHENS - Georgia has reeled in its second junior college recruit in less than a week.

Defensive back Kennar Johnson of Gulf Coast (Miss.) Community College commited late on Saturday night, according to various media outlets. Johnson, a native of Clarmont, Fla., is listed at 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds.

According to Dawgs247.com, Johnson is yet another player expected to enroll for the spring semester at Georgia. The Bulldogs are seeking as many early enrollees as possible, so they would count towards last year's signing class, and allow the team to sign well more than 30 players.

In fact, Johnson is commitment No. 30 for the Bulldogs.

Receiver Jonathan Rumph of Holmes Community College in Mississippi committed to Georgia last week.

Johnson, meantime, is the ninth defensive back commitment for the 2013 class. Georgia is set to lose almost every contributor from this year's secondary, with sophomore Damian Swann the only regular who isn't a senior. The team also has little depth back there after all the transfers and dismissals of last offseason.
