Victorian Christmas comes to The National Civil War Naval Museum at Port Columbus

November 29, 2012

The National Civil War Naval Museum at Port Columbus does Christmas in a very special way. The annual Victorian Christmas Open House will ring in the holidays during two weekends (Dec. 1-2 and Dec. 8-9) this year.

There will be performers, who are regulars at the Liberty Theatre and the Springer Opera House, the Columbus Brass of the Columbus State University Schwob School of Music, guided tours of the museum and special shopping opportunities.

Of course, what's a Victorian Christmas Open House without Santa Claus? A Civil War-era Santa will be available the second weekend, Dec. 8-9. He will also appear at the Broadway Holiday Parade at dark on Dec. 7 (6:30-8:30 p.m.). He'll light the Uptown Christmas tree and greet children at the gazebo on the 1100 block.

When: Activities are 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturday and Dec. 8 and 12:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. Sunday and Dec. 9. is 12:30-4:30 p.m.

Cost: Free (regular museum admission is $7.50; $6.50 for active duty military and seniors; $6 for students with valid ID)
