Dec. 8: Reindeer Run is a 1-mile race for kids

Mike Haskey mhaskey@ledger-enquirer.com Children sprint away from the starting line Saturday morning during opening moments of the 10th Reindeer Run in Uptown Columbus. The run, which drew approximately 650 children this year, is a local race for pre-K through 8th grade students that benefits Children's Miracle Network at The Medical Center. The one-mile race began and finished at Country's Barbecue on Broadway. It was hosted by Country's Barbecue and presented by Neonatology Associates of Columbus, Rivertown Pediatrics and Circle K. 12/12/09

Can't wait for Santa? Release some of your extra energy by participating in Saturday's Reindeer Run. The 1-mile race is for kids and categories span Pre-K to eighth grade. "Bib chips" will record official race results and awards will be given to male and female winners in each age category. The race benefits the Children's Miracle Network at The Medical Center.

What: Reindeer Run 2012

When: Saturday -- late registration begins 7:30 a.m., race begins 9 a.m.

Where: Country's Barbecue, 1329 Broadway, Columbus
