Woman called to pick up drunk friend charged with DUI

December 6, 2012

A Columbus woman apparently was driving under the influence when she was called to pick up an intoxicated friend Wednesday on Cooper Creek Road at Veterans Parkway, police said.

Caitlin Macheski, 27, was charged with having an open container and DUI after she was called to pick up a friend. At the scene, police said Macheski tossed out a half-empty 24 ounce can of beer about 7:10 p.m. As she left the 2001 Toyota pickup she was driving, she appeared to be under the influence.

She told police that she had been drinking and had taken prescription medication. Macheski was so impaired that she failed to complete a field sobriety test.
