Update: Mom of child left at school says grandmother, police resolved issue

Published: December 11, 2012

A 28-year-old woman accused of leaving a 6-year-old child at Rigdon Road Elementary for more than three hours was charged Monday with reckless conduct, Columbus police said.

Police were called to the school at 5 p.m. after officials could not locate a parent or guardian after the school ended. Tanisha Jordan-Rawls, 28, said Tuesday her son’s grandmother was scheduled to pick him up while she was working in the field as an insurance agent but she apparently forgot.

She said the grandmother talked to school and police officials and resolved the issue. “They worked with me,” the mother said.

Police didn’t return a call seeking comment on the case.
