Man drinking in public calls police for ride home

Published: December 11, 2012

If you are drinking in public, don't call police for a ride home.

That's what William E. Parrish, 51, did about 11 p.m. Thursday while he was drinking on Hamilton Road. With two empty beer cans beside him and three full cans left, he called 911 for a ride home to get his blood pressure medicine, police said in a report.

When they arrived at the scene, police didn't take him home. The unemployed Columbus man was charged with drinking in public and hauled off to the Muscogee County Jail.
