Malik Story scored a game-high 19 points as he led the Nevada Wolf Pack to a 69-56 win over the Cal Poly Mustangs in non- conference play at the Lawlor Events Center.
Also scoring in double figures for Nevada (6-4) was Jordan Burris with 13 points, while Jerry Evans came off the bench to add eight points and a game- high 14 rebounds as the squad won a second straight outing.
The Mustangs (3-4) were paced by Dylan Royer who dropped in 13 points and Brian Bennett with 10 as the team suffered a second loss in the last three games.
The Wolf Pack opened the meeting on a 9-2 run and never looked back, shooting not just 48.5 percent from the floor in the frame but also 8-of-12 behind the three-point line, en route to a 40-25 advantage at the break.
In the second half Nevada made just 1-of-7 attempts on the perimeter, but at the same time held the visitors to a mere 11-of-37 (.297) from the field as the hosts captured the double-digit win.
Nevada easily won the battle of the boards, 47-31, which helped the group to overcome 19 turnovers in the outing.
The Pack picked up the win despite leading scorer Deonte Burton, who was averaging 20.0 ppg heading into the meeting, coming away with just four points in 24 minutes of action.
